I speed through Six of Crows and fell in love with all of the characters. When I got my hands on Crooked Kingdom I was SO ready to find out how they were getting out of the mess they were in. As I read, I found myself not clinging to my book and not entranced by every word. I actually set this book down multiple times and questioned if I would actually finished it. I finally listened to it on audiobook while driving across California.

Let’s just say, I feel the same way I did when I finished The Grisha Trilogy. I feel like I got built up, and then nothing. I’m definitely happy certain ships happened (unlike The Grisha Trilogy)! And don’t get me wrong, overall I loved the story. I love that we hear from all the different view points, and that we got way more depth into the character stories. Maybe the ending of this book was too long, and dragged out for me to really love it.

When you can’t beat the odds, change the game.

Kaz Brekker and his crew have just pulled off a heist so daring even they didn’t think they’d survive. But instead of divvying up a fat reward, they’re right back to fighting for their lives. Double-crossed and badly weakened, the crew is low on resources, allies, and hope. As powerful forces from around the world descend on Ketterdam to root out the secrets of the dangerous drug known as jurda parem, old rivals and new enemies emerge to challenge Kaz’s cunning and test the team’s fragile loyalties. A war will be waged on the city’s dark and twisting streets―a battle for revenge and redemption that will decide the fate of the Grisha world.
