How Good It Was by Scarlett Cole

Release Date: February 22, 2022

SYNOPSIS: Willow – Love’s an illusion.
Everyone around her is out for what they can get, except a drummer who wanted nothing more than a steamy one-night stand. Two blue lines later, she’s on the fast track to career destruction as America’s number one wholesome content creator. Saving her reputation and collaborations will require a plan and a little social media fakery. Okay, a lot. Like twelve months of pretending to build a family with the rockstar of her dreams.
Luke – Love’s an anchor. Responsibilities and lack of band success have kept him trapped. But now, with the band suddenly making it big and his family obligations gone, life is off the rails. Yet fame, women, and arena tours only go so far in helping keep his pain buried.
Until one of the most spectacular nights of his life comes back to haunt him. She saved his career, now she wants him to help save hers.
A baby. A fake relationship. And a million dollars. Is it the perfect arrangement to avoid responsibilities? Or a deal guaranteed to ruin them both?

REVIEW: I absolutely adored this one. I’m so glad I found this series, because I’ve loved every book so far. The connections between the band members are really deep and meaningful. It’s been awesome to see them grow and learn to love/support each other better. The main female characters have all added something to the group and grown with the men. This series just have so much heart. Luke started off as a strong presence in book one, but after everything happened with his best friend and sister he kind of pulled away from the band, while simultaneously falling into some very bad habits. It was really good to see him grow into himself and recognize all he’s been through. He’s done some great things when handed some not so great situations. Luke just ended up being such a realistic character, and I enjoyed getting to know him better.
Willow happens to be the influencer that played the band’s song, which was the exposure they needed to get signed with a label. Willow has experienced all the good and bad of being an influencer. The author did an amazing job of showing both sides of social media fame and how it can greatly impact not only the person’s life, but everyone around them. Watching them both navigate fame, their own difficult experiences, and fall for one another made this one captivating read. They both have been hurt in different ways and just seeing them deal with that and help each other through it was really wonderful. I think what I like about this book is the realistic way they have to analyze, and then come to terms with their experiences that are impacting them as adults. I also love the normalization of therapy as a tool to analyze yourself and grow. I was just so happy at the end of this book, and I cannot wait for the next one. Alex’s story is sure to be one of my favorites. I have been copying quotes of Alex throughout all three books, because he’s such a ridiculously awesome character. I cannot wait to see his story. The tattoo across my right hip says it all really. A Life Less Ordinary. Inked by the amazingly talented Luke Wessman at the Wooster Street Social Club (a.k.a. New York Ink). Why is it important? Well, it sums up my view on life. That we should all aspire to live a life that is less boring, less predictable. Be bold, and do something amazing. I’ve made some crazy choices. I’ve been a car maker, a consultant, and even a senior executive at a large retailer running strategy. Born in England, spent time in the U.S. and Japan, before ending up in Canada where I met my own, personal hero – all six and a half feet of him. Both of us are scorpios! Yeah, I know! Should have checked the astrological signs earlier, but somehow it works for us. We have two amazing kids, who I either could never part with or could easily be convinced to sell on e-bay. I’ve wanted to be a writer for a really long time. Check through my office cupboards or my computer and you’ll find half written stories and character descriptions everywhere. Now I’m getting the chance to follow that dream. I am represented by Beth Phelan at The Bent Agency, NY.
