Only You by Samantha Young

SYNOPSIS: Once upon a time, Monroe Sinclair was Brodan Adair’s best friend, but now he’s a stranger and one of Hollywood’s leading men… It took Monroe Sinclair eighteen years to return home to Ardnoch after a fateful night that devastated her friendship with Brodan Adair. She fled her unrequited love for him, as well as her difficult family life, and tried not to look behind her. Only a daughter’s guilt could lure her back to the Highlands and the assumption that Brodan Adair rarely ever sets foot in their hometown. She can handle seeing the rest of the Adairs so long as she can avoid her ex-best friend and the only man she’s ever loved. Nothing is more important to Brodan than family, and only his demons have the power to keep him from them. For years, acting was something he was lucky enough to be good at, yet it wasn’t his priority—Ardnoch and his siblings were. But when a ghost from his past returned out of the blue, Brodan tried to outrun its haunting, taking him further and further from home. When exhaustion finally forces him back to the family fold, the last thing he wants is to encounter another ghost. But that’s exactly what Monroe Sinclair has been to him. When a promise to his nephew obliges Brodan to work with Monroe, it forces them to face their past. The explosive connection that has always existed between them resurrects truths long buried. Yet, just when they might be on the brink of a second chance, the ghost from Brodan’s past finally catches up to him and threatens not just their happiness, but their very lives.

REVIEW: This book definitely gave the couple a rough start. If you’ve read this series, you knew this one was gonna be messy from the things you learned about these two in the previous books. But I don’t think I expected Brodan to be so angry in this one. And to be completely honest, I didn’t really like him at the beginning. I felt like Monroe deserved so much more. Not to mention these two are 37 years-old, and I needed Brodan to start acting like it. Luckily, he figures it out and we get to see these two find the happy ever after they deserve. These two have had a seriously rough road. It’s partially their fault, partially other people’s fault, but it’s damn messy. It was nice to get the final story of the Adair family and see them all happy with their significant others. I also enjoyed seeing the other couples play their part in the story and the kids as well.

Funny enough, I think that thing that really intrigued me in this book was the interactions between Brodan’s bodyguard, Walker, and Monroe’s friend, Sloane. Luckily, Samantha’s new series and next book, Beyond the Thistles, is their book! It comes out in May, and I am counting down the days until we can see what happens with these two. Walker is a pretty amazing guy character in this one. While he has a good mind about him and he’s a good influence on Brodan, he’s also so quiet and mysterious. I seriously can’t wait to see him fall hard!

Mine to Hold By Natasha Madison

4 STARS

Release Date: February 14, 2023

SYNOPSIS: Vivienne – I did the last thing I ever expected to do. I bought a boat. A beautiful boat that was all mine to spend the summer on. Only thing I was looking forward to was the calm being on the water brought me. A place where I wasn’t a hockey dynasty princess or the only single girl of the family. What I wasn’t looking forward to was the broody man in the boat next to me.
Xavier – I was at the top of my game two years ago. Then it all came crashing down. I hung up my skates and vowed to never play again. I was good at hockey, but hockey was bad for me. I planned to spend my life on my boat with my dog. Alone. Happily alone. Until she came along.

From Wall Street Journal and USA TODAY bestselling author Natasha Madison comes a brand new stand-alone enemies-to-lovers grumpy/sunshine sports romance.

A spin-off from the Only One series

Review:  I really appreciated the relevant topics of mental health in this one. Xavier was such an interesting character, and while he’s definitely grumpy in the beginning, he does change his tune pretty quick. Vivienne comes from a place that helps her understand what he went through, which helps their connection. I also loved how Xavier carried on this dialogue with his dog, Beatrice, like she was a human being. It was kind of comical at times, and then the best part was that Vivienne started doing it as well. It was just so funny that the dog was like a whole other character that was there the whole time, but also not a person. I like that they both ended up feeling comfortable with each other and shared their secrets with each other. They were just all in once they realized they had a connection. Vivienne’s family reactions to everything with them as a couple was great, and they really stood up for Xavier as he went back to the hockey world. The ending definitely made this book for me. I am most definitely looking forward to the next book. It’s not only single parent, but also accidental pregnancy (one of my favs). Not to mention, that this book ends on a family vacation with the next two characters present, and I have a feeling this is where their story starts. I seriously cannot wait!

You Can’t Kiss the Nanny, Brady Banks by Piper Rayne

5 Stars

Release Date: February 14, 2023

Synopsis: The Kingsmen’s best wide receiver. Rich AF. Hot as hell. A stallion in the sack. How do I know that last fact? I may have shared a one-night stand with him six months ago when I was rebounding from a broken heart. I didn’t forget him, but I was done with him, until I discovered he’s the single dad of the boy I’ve been hired to nanny.  It’s near impossible to ignore my attraction to him now that we’re living under the same roof—but I have no choice. First, this job pays well, and I need the money to move out of my parents’ spare room. Second, he’s a public figure and there’s no room for me to get caught up in a scandal with him—I can’t disappoint my parents again. Third, men like Brady were built to break hearts. I barely managed to piece mine back together after my failed engagement and Brady would do irreparable damage if I gave him the chance. Let the longest three months of my life begin…

USA Today Bestselling Author, Piper Rayne, continues the Kingsmen Football Stars series with a single dad romance that starts with a bang!

REVIEW: How did I not know that Brady Banks parents are from Mad About the Banker? I absolutely loved that book, and it was so fun to see them as his parents. His parents get together when he’s six and so it’s awesome to see how he’s grown up and their interactions now that he’s older. On top of that, I loved the chemistry between Brady and Violet. Readers get a little glimpse in the first book at Brady’s growing interest in Violet, that he’s never had in any other of his other one-night stands. And you know that she’s going to be his nanny from those little tidbits, as well. I knew that I was going to love this book.

Getting the scene of the morning after their first encounter, and then when she figures out that she’s nannying for him, were both so satisfying. All of this pulled me right into the story. It was really refreshing to see the male main character have a healthy relationship coparenting with his baby mama, and then you have the interactions between Brady and Theo, his son, and Violet and Theo that just added so much happiness to the storyline. I think something I really enjoyed about this book as well, is that it didn’t seem like there was unnecessary drama. Like these two definitely need to figure out their own personal issues, but it was very realistic and not over the top.

I loved seeing Lee Burroughs and Shayna come into the story, but I was obsessed with seeing Jasper and Lennon as his parents. And I love that you can kind of pick up on who the future couples may be. The tension between Miles, and Bryce are giving off the steamy vibes, and the way Chase acts about Miles‘ sister Twila gives us quite the idea where that’s going. Of course, at the end of this book, Piper Rayne ended the with a little peek at Chase and Twila’s story. I’m definitely looking forward to that one, because force proximity is one of my favorite things ever, and I do love a good Brothers best friend, trope.

Wild Ever After by Rebecca Jenshak

4 STARS!

Release Date: February 7, 2023

SYNOPSIS: I’m going to marry her. Are we dating? No. Was she engaged to someone else yesterday? Yes. It’s not real. It’s to save her job after her fiancé dumped her days before their wedding. But it’s good press for me, which my agent will love. I just signed a seven-year contract with the Wildcats, maybe my final one, and I have to start thinking about life after hockey. Did I mention she’s my coach’s daughter’s best friend? She’s driven, fun, and the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. Too bad I’m not supposed to fall for my wife.

REVIEW: Jade and Declan are a mess. It’s interesting, because after seeing Jade’s engagement and job in the previous book, Wild About You, I was wondering what was gonna happen with all of that. Readers also get to see how awesome Declan is when he helps Tyler with his little sister, Everly, in Wild About You, and it made me really curious about him and his backstory. Readers really get to know these characters and see how their experiences left a lasting impact on how they interact with each other and when feelings get involved. This gives them a depth that i really appreciated. It all kept me very interested in what was gonna happen to them. Jade drove me a little crazy, because I just wanted her to go to therapy. Luckily, Declan was just so perfect for her and what she needed. Seriously, Declan is total and complete book boyfriend material in this one! I also really appreciated Jade and Scarlett’s friendship throughout this book. I really love all of the friendships that have developed within the group. Everly and Declan‘s friendship, and the guys in general, it just felt so real. I am really excited to see where the series goes and what happens to the rest of these characters!

Whispers of You by Catherine Cowles

4.5 Stars

Release Date: January 31, 2023

Synopsis: One night—a single moment—cost me everything. My body, broken beyond repair. The boy I’d thought was my forever. The life I’d always dreamt of. Now, Holt’s back. And he’s no longer a boy, but a man with shadows in his eyes and demons haunting him. He says he’s here to make things right. To get back a little bit of all we’ve lost. And he doesn’t show any signs of leaving the small town that has been my refuge. As stolen moments turn to days, Holt’s around every corner. With his burning stare and lingering touches. Before long, my walls come crashing down and I’m just hoping that taking this second chance isn’t as reckless as it feels. But not everyone is happy that Holt has returned. As tragedy strikes again, I’m the one left in the crosshairs. And Holt might not be able to save me this time…

Fall for Holt and Wren in their second-chance, forced proximity small town romance from USA Today Bestselling Author, Catherine Cowles!

✔️ Second Chance

✔️ Forced Proximity

✔️ Small Town

✔️ Suspense

Review: I loved reading about Wren and Holt when they were young and seeing their relationship. The beginning of this book had me kind of thinking, “how are these two ever going to overcome what happened?” I should’ve known better, because Catherine Cowles is the queen of showing us why couples belong together and why their second chances are so deserved. I think I appreciated the depth of the characters the most. Wren is such a wonderful character, and I think her disposition is the reason that her and Holt could find themselves together again. She seems to just be a genuinely kind person.

Something Catherine Cowles is very good at is taking a situation that I’m not sure the characters can overcome, and having them overcome it. She is amazing at humanizing the mistakes that people make and writing couples that just seem meant to be. Something else that she’s good at is still surprising me here and there. As someone who’s read a ton of romantic suspense, and watched a lot of thrillers and horror movies, I usually can pick up on the twists in a plot. Although I can usually see some parts of her stories coming, there’s always at least one part that I am thoroughly surprised at.

Another thing I love about Catherine Cowles books is that the family dynamics are always amazing. And while there’s real blood related families, there’s also found families in her books that really intrigue me and warm my heart. I love Wren’s relationships with the Hartleys despite Holt’s absence. And don’t even get me started on the Hartleys. I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series! Nash is next and I know he’s gonna be great, but of course the two books I want are going be the last two. Yes, I am claiming Roan and Law right now, so back off! Haha. If you read this book and you wanna talk about these siblings I am 100% here for it.

A best friend’s brother, small town romance from Catherine Cowles

I’ve only ever had one secret: I’ve been in love with my best friend’s brother for as long as I can remember. West Castille is everything my little-girl heart dreamed of and everything I still yearn for, even now. There is just one problem. He’s never felt the same. West moved on to the military and then into private security, using his finely honed protective streak to keep everyone but me safe, while I lost myself in my music and a coffee-shop job in our small town. But when creepy messages on my social media turn to threatening notes left at my door, West is the one who shows up on my porch. I tell myself it’s brotherly concern or a favor for his sister, but that all feels like a lie when his skin brushes mine. One stolen kiss could send us hurtling into disaster. Because when my stalker sees the way we touch, he’ll do anything to end us both…
