The Breaking Season by K.A. Linde

ALL THE DAMN STARS a.k.a. 5 Stars

Release Date: July 21, 2020

SYNOPSIS: I signed on the dotted line. A marriage contract to seal my union with the devil. I thought I knew what I was doing. His money and name were mine for the taking. But Camden Percy always gets exactly what he wants. And what he wants is me—my body, my obedience, my surrender.

He wants to break me.

But I’m Katherine Van Pelt. I’ll never break. I’ll never beg. I’ll never give in. Except I promised him one more thing—a baby. A Percy heir. There’s no way out of this one. Either I comply or lose everything. Do I risk the husband I’m just learning to love or is this my breaking season?

REVIEW: HOLY CRAP. I mean seriously, how do I even tell you about my love for this book. The craziest part is that I requested to review the first book, The Lying Season, based solely on the cover and thinking the blurb sounded interesting. I had never read K.A. Linde before (that has now definitely changed as I’m working on her backlist). It was seriously one of my best decisions I’ve made in 2020. I am obsessed with this series. This group of Upper East Side friends can be vicious and the drama is real, but the author does such a good job at humanizing the characters. The Breaking Season is a perfect example of how amazing K.A. Linde is as an author. Katherine and Camden are anti-heroes. They come off as vapid and malicious, not only to others, but also each other. I kept wondering how I would feel about their story. After reading the first two books, and knowing I’d learn more about Katherine by reading Penn and Natalie’s series, I jumped into the Curel series. Honestly, I did not like Katherine, but there is this point in Cruel Legacy, where my heart aches for Katherine. This is how I knew K.A. Linde was going to destroy me in the best way with this story.

I was right. Camden and Katherine are everything I wanted and needed. This story gave me the full spectrum of emotions. They are a total mess, but I was rooting for them to get it together the entire time. I needed their HEA, like I needed my next breath. I couldn’t even put this one down! The backstory is key to really empathizing with these characters and figuring out why they’re doing what they’re doing. While trauma doesn’t excuse bad behavior, it definitely explains a lot of what’s been going on. It also helps show the amazing character growth these two undergo throughout this story. The amazing plot twists in this one make the entire story so much better too. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say this is one of my most favorite books of 2020, which makes sense, because this may just be my favorite series of 2020!

Thank you to K.A. Linde and Wildfire Marketing Solutions for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!!
