Sure by Jillian Liota

4.5 STARS

Release Date: March 22, 2022

SYNOPSIS: Colton Palmer’s world has just imploded. In addition to sorting through his grief in the wake of unexpected betrayal, he also has to face the fact that his life as a stay-at-home dad is no longer a reality. Hiring someone to take care of his 3-year-old son is the last thing Colton wants… but he’s out of options. Emily Burns is desperate to find a nannying job that allows her to stay in Sandalwood, even one working for the pompous jackass she exchanged verbal blows with at the bar. The guy might be an angry you-know-what, but he’s been through a lot and she decides to cut him some slack. Besides, beggars can’t be choosers, after all. When lines are crossed and their relationship becomes physical, Colton and Emily are faced with the difficult task of deciding whether this thing between them is just a little fun, or a possible forever. But when it comes to matters of the heart, how can anyone ever be sure?

Sure is book 1 to Jillian Liota’s new Sandalwood Series!

REVIEW: This book gave me exactly what I love about Jillian Liota’s romances. There is always at least one moment where one character educates the other on a very real situation that they have no idea about. In this case, Emily explains to Colton the danger of turning down a man’s advances in certain situations. I absolutely adored this moment. This story was definitely more of a slow burn, and Colton has a lot he needs to work out. The characters are messy and real. The emotions were all over the place. If you want to feel while you’re reading, Liota’s books will always pull the emotions right out of you! I’m excited to see what Sandalwood will be us next.

Tutoring the Player by Rebecca Jenshak

5 STARS!!!

Release Date: March 29, 2022

SYNOPSIS: I have a type. I love the good guy. Responsible and stable. Safe. So when a beer-drinking, quick-witted, tattooed hockey player asks me to tutor him, I’m suddenly thrust into the world of bad boys and bad decisions. Jordan is a renowned player on campus. He doesn’t take anything seriously, except hockey and partying. But he gives me butterflies.
I’m a wallflower tutoring Valley University’s hottest player.

This is the first book in the new Campus Wallflowers series by Rebecca Jenshak!!

REVIEW: THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD. I loved how Daisy and Jordan’s friendship grew. How they slowly learned more about each other and their assumptions were slowly proven wrong. I loved how Jordan was full of constant surprises. I loved how Daisy was the wallflower with so much depth. I could not put down this book, because I was so invested. I loved all the emotions it brought out in me. Watching Daisy and Jordan make questionable decisions on their road to HEA was beyond entertaining. Jenshak does such an amazing job at writing new adult characters that are learning about themselves while navigating all the new situations and relationships they find themselves in. She is one of my absolute favorite authors in the college romance trope, but this one is definitely one of my most favorites. I’m so excited to see where she takes us with these new Valley U characters!

Sneaking Around With #34 by Piper Rayne

4.5 STARS

Release Date: March 8, 2022

SYNOPSIS: I have a reputation for being tight-lipped. You learn quick when you become a professional hockey player to be guarded with the media, so I’ve worked hard to cover up the mistakes of my youth. But when I’m traded to the Florida Fury, where my ex–best friend is the starting right wing, I’m forced to confront my past. Ford and I have a lot of history, especially when it comes to his little sister, Imogen. My heart still lurches in my chest when I see her. My hands want to reach out and touch her. My mouth wants to keep apologizing. She’s the only woman who ever made me want more. But she’s also the one who fell victim to my most regrettable decision. I’m not a believer in fate, but I must be back in her world for a reason. I’ve fought for everything I’ve gotten and I’m not backing down from what I know will be the best thing in my life.

This is Book 4 in Piper Rayne’s hockey romance series, Hockey Hotties!

REVIEW: This one was definitely cute. After Ford‘s book, Faking It With #41, I was pretty excited to get Imogen’s story with Warren. I was dying for the details! And once I started reading, I definitely couldn’t put it down. I needed to know what happened between Imogen and Warner in the past, and you only get little snippets as you read throughout the first half of the book. The suspense was killing me in the best way. The situation is presented as something that’s unforgivable, but honestly I think that there are multiple parties involved, and it was kind of like the perfect storm in the worst way. I think once I knew what happened, and then seeing these to spend time together, because they had to for work, made me really happy for the ending that we get. In true Piper Rayne fashion, this one made me feel all of the emotions, and had me laughing my butt off at times–see Dr. Marc for more details. IYKYK. Haha. I’m looking forward to the next two books after meeting the guys in this one! I also liked how the group dynamic for the team changed over the time of this book. These guys, and their partners, create an awesome group dynamic that is so fun to see throughout the books. The next book, Second Shot with #76, comes out April 16th!

Solo by Jillian Liota

5 STARS

Release Date: March 1, 2022

SYNOPSIS: Soren Lock has held a torch for his ex, the mother of his 7-year-old daughter, for as long as he can remember. Even though life has kept them apart, a piece of him has always believed they would come back to each other in the end. That is…until she shows up in Sandalwood with a new fiancé.
Ozzy Zelasko has been dealt a pretty rough hand in life, so she tries to keep complications to a minimum. She has two jobs that help her scrape by, and she spends her free time with her ailing grandmother, and trying to paint when she can. But she can’t help the way her sexy new boss makes her heart skip a beat.
When Soren and Ozzy find distraction in each other, they find a way to free themselves from the emotional rollercoaster of life, just for a little while. But the two are both committed to keeping everything as uncomplicated as possible. Can they find a way to make this unexpected connection work long-term? Or are they both destined to face life solo?

Solo is the prequel to Jillian Liota’s new Sandalwood Series!

“I can almost hear her battling with herself through the phone. It’s a struggle I’m all too familiar with, the one where independent people try not to rely on anyone else for help. It’s the life I live every day, and listening to the silence as Ozzy tries to convince herself she’s fine on her own makes me sad. For both of us. For everyone who feels like they are a burden.”

THIS. This is why I love Jillian Liota’s writing.

REVIEW: For a novella, this was amazing! When Soren’s baby momma was still kind of in the picture, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about the story, especially with it being short. I’m not a fan of love triangles. In the way only Jillian Liota can, the story progressed in the best way and was anything but a love triangle. I love the realistic and complex emotions Soren and Ozzy dealt with, and how they started something together that brought to light their similarities. I felt like they were just meant to find one another. I don’t want to give too much away, but obviously I’d recommend you check this one out. It also has me ridiculously excited for, Sure, which is book 1 in the Sandalwood series coming out March 22nd.

The Player Hater by Sara Ney

Release Date: September 30, 2021

SYNOPSIS: I would do anything for my best friend. Well. Almost anything. When she begs me to come on a weekend getaway so I can bond with her new boyfriend, I can’t say no—no matter how badly I want to. After all, who will keep an eye on the guy; he’s your stereotypical, professional football player (emphasis on PLAYER) and I don’t trust him with my friends heart. Worse? He has the nerve to bring his single best friend Davis on the trip, too. Davis is too handsome, so funny and smart he can’t possibly be human. Grandma’s, babies and kittens all fall for his smile. In fact, everyone adores but me **narrows eyes** What’s he hiding? I refuse to fall for his act; at some point he’ll will drop the Good Guy act and show his true colors: he’s a player, too. He must be.
You know the saying: if he seems too good to be true, he probably is.

The Player Hater is Book 1 in the new Accidentally in Love Series!

REVIEW: Talk about a Meet-Not-So-Cute! These two did not have a good first impression. Sara Ney’s usual banter and hilarity definitely show up in this one. Juliet and Davis have the worst of luck, which gives readers all the laughs. Juliet is so very skeptical, of Thad, her best friend’s boyfriend, and of Davis. She does not love Jocks, that’s for sure! I was kind of wondering if she would ever be won over. I wasn’t sure about Davis in the beginning, because I thought Juliet protests about the camper were completely valid. He definitely drew on me and I’m glad I got to see what happened with these two. I’m also VERY excited to see where the next book takes us!! The MRS. Degree is coming April 2nd.
