REVIEW: Only Piper Rayne could bring me to read a therapist/client romance. I’m going to be very honest and say that I avoid this trope like the plague (my masters in counseling may have something to do with that). Anyway, enough about me, I really did enjoy this book, for the same reason I always enjoy Piper Rayne books: they make me feel things in the best way. They’re steamy and have characters with depth. Maksim and Paisley complemented each other well, despite their own issues. It was enjoyable watching them overcome the odds with each other. And then there are Maksim, Aiden and Ford. I really do love reading about these friends interacting. It’s always so entertaining. Ford‘s book, Faking It With #41, has all the makings to be a favorite for me, so I cannot wait for that one! Overall, I’m having a lot fun with these hockey romances from Piper Rayne!!

SYNOPSIS: Lucky. The one adjective used to describe my entire hockey career. I prefer to call it hard work, at least I did until my game went to complete crap. I haven’t scored in eight games and my team owner is talking about trading me. I’ve never believed in superstitions. Never needed one. I suppose I was “lucky” in that way. But now the best way to refer to me is desperate. I’d wear the same socks for an entire year just to be the high-scoring center I used to be. Imagine my surprise when after spending New Year’s Eve with a woman, I score a hat trick in the next game—that’s three goals in one game for you non-hockey lovers. Now, I have to track her down and bribe her to do it again before every game. Get your mind out of the gutter, I’m not talking about it. I find her and when I get to know her better, I end up spending more time thinking about her than my game, but she’s made it clear she wants no part of me. She’s going to learn that I didn’t become a professional hockey player without having to fight for what I want.

REVIEW: This book was very cute! The superstition aspect was so intriguing, and what Aiden thought he needed to make him better was hilarious!!! I think my favorite part was the friendship that developed between Aiden and Saige. It was really sweet and made me feel like they did belong together. The connection and chemistry between these two pulled me right in. Saige has a messy dating past and I think her hangups were very valid. That being said, Aiden’s agent, who she is dating in the beginning of this book totally should’ve set off her radar like any athlete would. And although Aiden was very aware and attempted to be respectful of their relationship, I think his flirting/comments pushed past the line a few times. As the reader you know more about what is going on and that definitely helped me stay on team Aiden and Saige.

It was absolutely wonderful to see the happy little moment for Frankie, Jax, and Jollie from A Co-Worker’s Crush, since Frankie and Aiden are cousins. Many of the side characters were pretty great, and I am definitely interested to see where the series goes! Maksim’s book, The Trouble with #9, is next and it sounds like it’ll be a wild ride. Ford‘s book has all the makings to be a favorite for me, so I cannot wait for that one! I do love me some hockey hotties.
