Wild Love by Rebecca Jenshak

5 STARS!

Release Date: October 26, 2021

SYNOPSIS: Johnny Maverick is a lot of things.
Great hockey player.
Loyal friend.
Rule breaker.
Always up for a good time.
And now, he’s my new roommate. It’s only for a few weeks while I intern for the Wildcats—his new NHL team. And there are some pros to living with my hot and ridiculous friend (or is that ridiculously hot?). He’s fun and unexpectedly sweet, and he reminds me not to take myself too seriously. I had no intention of breaking the one rule given to me on my first day on the job: no sleeping with the players. And if I had, I never dreamed that player would be Johnny Maverick.

This is the last book in the Campus Nights series!

REVIEW: THIS SERIES! I have honestly loved EVERY SINGLE BOOK in the Campus Nights series from Rebecca Jenshak. Each couple is so unique in their issues, but so real, and so good for each other. I’m not a huge fan of friends-to-lovers, but luckily it has some of my other favorites like forced proximity and secret relationship. Plus, I had to know Maverick’s story! I mean all the games of sardines, all the banter, I knew I was going to love these two. This book did not disappoint. I just had so many feelings, which is exactly what I want from a great romance. The thing about Rebecca‘s books is that while she can definitely have you laughing your butt off, she also covers the real issues that people deal with on differing levels. It makes me sincerely appreciate all of the characters. I don’t want to give much more away, so I’m going to leave it at that, but honestly, you need to read this whole series!!

Thank you to Rebecca Jenshak and Valentine PR for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

Broken Hearts by Rebecca Jenshak

5 STARS!

Release Date: July 13, 2021

SYNOPSIS: She’s a figure skater. He’s a hockey player. Things are about to heat up on the ice. Rhett Rauthruss is single for the first time in six years. He’s fresh off a long-term, long-distance relationship and ready to make the most of what’s left of college.
Party with his boys, get to the Frozen Four with his team, and maybe play the field for a change. Sienna Hale knows a thing or two about heartbreak. She’s a college athlete about to skate for the last time, and nothing is going to throw her off course. Not her worries about finding a job after college, not the whispers of last year’s accident on the ice, and not the cute hockey player who keeps asking her out. They think they want different things, but when it heats up between them, there’s no denying they have something in common–even if it’s just for a night.

This is Book 3 in the Campus Nights series!

REVIEW: THIS SERIES! I have honestly loved EVERY SINGLE BOOK in the Campus Nights series from Rebecca Jenshak. Each couple is so unique in their issues, but so real, and so good for each other. Rhett and Sienna are so stickin’ cute. Something I love about Rebecca Jenshak’s books is that I can be laughing my butt off in one chapter, and then clutching my heart with all the emotions I’m feeling in the next. And I do have to say the beginning this book had me laughing pretty hard! I’ve been so curious about Rhett this whole time because we met him in the previous books. He’s in this weird long distance relationship that isn’t a great one and the guys don’t exactly support. From what little glimpses we get of him, I also got this impression of him being a very sweet and loyal guy, but really getting him to know him in this book was so much better! The first interactions he has with Sienna are hilariously awful. But the progression of them together had me very, very invested. Sienna was a very interesting character, because we get to see her later on in her growth where she has a great maturity and handle on her situation. Everything she’s dealt with, and is still currently dealing with health-wise, really made her fascinating. We don’t get to see her growth as much, but she still pulls you into the story. I also really enjoyed her friendship with Silas. What the friendship is built on and how they were there for each other in a way only they could was heartwarming. Silas has one of the quotes that I love the most:

“Do you want to know what makes me and Sienna so close? What makes any two people close, I’d wager?” I don’t respond, but he keeps going. “Going through challenging shit together. Being vulnerable and letting the other person see all your fucked-up-ness…” There’s a little more, but I don’t want to spoil it anything!

It’s also really awesome to see the couples from the last two books! I think what I love the most about series that have standalone books is that you get the complete story in one book, but you get to revisit the characters throughout the other books. It makes me feel like there’s this group of people that you’re really invested in and you really want to see them get their happy ever afters! And not only do you get to see them get their happy ever after, you then get to see them living their happy ever after while their friends are on their own personal journey. Not only are the couple stories amazing, but also how the whole friend group is supportive of each other. They all experience major ups and downs, but their friends have their backs. The thing about Rebecca‘s books is that while she can definitely have you laughing your butt off, she also covers the real issues that people deal with on differing levels. Sometimes those issues are super emotional and you need the help of your friends and family to get through it. The characters in this one are just so great! I appreciate all of the side characters in different ways, and I’m definitely looking forward to learning more about Maverick and Dakota as the series continues!

Dotted Lines by Devney Perry

5 STARS

Release Date: March 2, 2021

SYNOPSIS: Clara Saint-James is completing a journey started by an old friend. She’ll return a Cadillac to California, a place she’s avoided for more than a decade. But it’s time for closure and to put old ghosts to rest. And it’s time to find out if the feelings she’s cherished for the boy from her past are just fanciful memories–or if there’s a chance they are real. Timing was never on her side, especially when it came to Karson Avery. The two of them lived in a junkyard as runaway teens, and though she wanted more than his friendship, he always belonged to another–until that one night when he was hers. When Clara finds Karson living in a small, coastal town, she’s not surprised the beautiful boy from her past grew into a stunning man. His smile is as captivating as ever. His eyes have the same roguish glint. But timing is still working against her. Clara must decide how far she’s willing to go to battle for Karson’s heart. Or if it’s time to let him go and surrender to the dotted lines that have always kept them apart.

Dotted Lines is the last conclusion to the AMAZING Runaway Series!

REVIEW: WOW! What a perfect end to a touching series that will always hold a special place in my heart. I don’t have words to accurately describe how much I love this series. It seriously touched something in my soul. I loved every story and each characters connection to one another. They are all survivors at their core, and I think that has made me so invested in each and everyone of these characters. Getting all the women’s stories has been such a joy, and it had left me with a growing curiosity about Karson throughout each book. Who was the boy that lived with all of them in the Junkyard. What was his story? Well, finally getting it was beyond statisfying. I didn’t know how I’d feel about Clara’s crush with the history between Karson and Londyn, but Devney Perry did such a wonderful job of introducing Karson and Clara’s past story, I was all in. It was so endearing and even though it didn’t work out when Clara turned 18, I was definitely rooting for their second chance.

Clara is such a great character! I enjoyed seeing her in Aria’s story, Forsaken Trail, including her friendship with Brody. She’s been through so much and is a wonderful single mom. Her story definitely pulls at the heart strings and I cried, a lot. Her struggles with the past and present hit deep and made me tear up. She is so strong because she’s had to be ever since her parent died. I just admire her as a character. Getting Karson’s backstory and then his thought process of why he didn’t go with Aria when they left the junkyard, was both heartbreaking and endearing. I just wanted these two together so bad!

AND THAT EPILOGUE! Dear lord, I was crying all the happy tears. I was smiling with tears streaming down my face and I loved every minute of it. I sincerely recommend this entire series and I will definitely be doing a reread at some point.

A Co-Worker’s Crush By Piper Rayne

The final book
in the Rooftop Crew series!

5 STARS

Release Date: January 5, 2021

SYNOPSIS: Three tattoo guns. Five motorcycle tires. Countless T-shirts. That’s what I lost before I realized nothing good comes from dating my co-workers.  Usually, I don’t have much self-control. So, the fact that Frankie Grant is a hot, talented tattoo artist means it’s a damn miracle she hasn’t already been in my bed. But nothing can happen between us because Frankie comes with Jolie, her young daughter, and a crap load of baggage from her ex. And those are two things I never entertain. Anyone who knows me—the screwed up foster kid from the wrong side of the tracks—knows I’m not the guy you take home to meet your parents, let alone your kid. But I also know what it’s like not to have parents, so things get complicated when Jolie asks me to be her daddy. I might as well just slash my own tires now.

Review: What a perfect ending to the Rooftop Crew series. When readers first got a glimpse of Jax in the Rival Roomies, which happens to be one of my favorites, he almost stole the show from Rian and Dylan! I just knew his HEA was going to be a good story. It was really amazing to see him and Frankie during this one, especially because of the build up in previous books. There’s something really heartwarming about people that have been through really difficult times finding support and care from the people around them. The whole Rooftop Crew takes Frankie and Jolie in, just like they did with Jax when he first appeared on the scene. It’s just a really great group of friends that’s so supporting and loving. I think that is what makes this whole series! The whole crew is just so much fun–even when they mess up, they’re all trying to support each other and push each other in the best way.

One thing I really appreciated about this book specifically is that although both characters have definitely dealt with some trauma, and it’s impacted who they are as adults, there wasn’t a huge overdramatic scene. A lot of times in these types of books, I’m waiting for some huge ridiculous misunderstanding that is going to make me irritated, but that really didn’t happen with this one. It was the perfect amount of mistakes and growth for each character. They’re both just navigating what life has thrown at them, and when things happens towards the ends with Jax, it’s very realistic. The way he handles it all, I admired it, and that’s what makes me really happy. The lack of super-over-the-top drama is what made the story so much better it. It was just very true to the characters and how they’ve grown.

If you can’t tell I’ve absolutely love this series! I tend to love Piper Rayne books in general, but this series just got me! I think it’s just the support that the group offers each other that really won me over. I’m definitely looking forward to Piper Rayne’s Hockey Hotties series and I’m pretty sure we met one of the characters in this book–Frankie‘s cousin Aiden, but we shall see!
