Scot Under the Covers by Suzanne Enoch

Release Date: January 28, 2019

Publisher: St. Martin’s Press

SYNOPSIS: Miranda Harris is known for her charm, wit, and ability to solve any problem she encounters. But when her brother lands neck-deep in gambling debt to a crafty villain and Miranda is subsequently blackmailed into marrying him, she must enlist the help of the devil himself to save the family honor―and herself.

Devilishly handsome Highlander Aden MacTaggert knows next to nothing about the ways of the ton, but he most certainly knows his way around gaming halls and women’s hearts. Still, Aden is not sure how he’ll manage to find a Sassenach bride in time to save his family’s inheritance. When his almost sister-in-law Miranda comes to him for assistance, he proposes a partnership: She will help him navigate London society and he’ll teach her everything about wagering…and winning back her freedom. The beautiful, clever lass intrigues Aden―but is she playing her own game, or are the sparks between them real? He is accustomed to risking his pocket. But betting on Miranda’s love is a game he can’t afford to lose. . .

REVIEW: This series. The MacTaggert Brothers. The strong female leads. I am in LOVE. Okay, so I may have wanted to smack Miranda for a good portion of the book, but I also understand why she was acting as she was. The banter between Aden and Miranda makes up for it. Aden just does it so well, it’s a push and pull in the best way. I was rooting for Aden to win over Miranda from the first time they met. The suspense, the chemistry, and the growth of the characters made me more invested in this story as it went on. We’ve gotten two brother’s stories, and I cannot wait to get the final one in the third book!

The Highland Earl by Amy Jarecki

4.5 STARS!

Release Date: June 25, 2019

Publisher: Forever (Grand Central Publishing)

Mr. & Mrs. Smith meets Outlander in this action-packed Scottish romance where a marriage of convenience leads to secrets that could be deadly.

With two young sons to care for and a large estate to run, John Erskine, the widowed Earl of Mar, needs to remarry as quickly as possible. And beautiful Lady Evelyn Pierrepont would be the perfect match. But there’s more behind the English lass’s calm demeanor than she’s letting on, including a smoldering allure not even John can ignore.

Evelyn has no desire to wed the rugged Scottish earl, but at least she’ll be able to continue her work as a spy-as long as her husband never finds out. Yet the more time Evelyn spends with John and his boys, the fonder she grows of their little family, and the last thing she wants to do is put them in danger. As alliances shift and enemies draw closer, soon everything they hold dear is at risk: their lands, their love, and their very lives.

The fact that Evelyn is a spy was what initially intrigued me and had me picking this one up! It did not disappoint. This historical romance has the slowest burn during this marriage of convenience. I enjoyed watching both characters get to know each other, and how Evelyn’s relationships with John (the Earl of Mar), and his sons develop. All the twists and turns and connections between different characters kept me guessing the whole way. I loved the use of the historical era in this one also, and that’s not just because I have a thing for highlanders. Haha. Although this is one great highlander, who is as caring as he is hot. Don’t get me wrong he has his faults, but he figures it out. Evelyn is definitely a match as a caring woman, even if she is a little on the naive side but it works for this story. If you like highlanders, romance, historical romances, I definitely recommend this one!

The Highlander’s Improper Wife by Tarah Scott & KyAnn Waters

Release Date: May 18, 2017P

Synopsis:A proper young lady should never attend a Masque…Aphrodite is no lady.
Betrothal to the callous Lord Blackhall painted a future devoid of love. Upon his death, Lady Caroline Wilmont is promised to the younger brother. Caroline refuses to allow her first taste of desire to be at the hands of a man who would rather have any woman but her. This, her last night of freedom, is to be a memory of lust that she can take with her throughout her loveless marriage. As Aphrodite, Caroline attends a masque determined to find a man to initiate her into the intimacies of erotic love.
Taran Robertson, Viscount of Blackhall, makes no secret that he despises his obligation to marry the Sassenach heiress chosen for him by his father. As a last foray before his wedding, he attends a masque. However, the spirited vixen he meets and seduces has secrets…secrets that just may reveal he’s to have an improper wife.

Review: This is one sexy historical romance. I mean we start with a passionate night, that ends in a surprising revelation for our heroine. The plot is hilarious at times in a way that only a historical romance could be. I think the improper wife part makes it feel more modern, but with historical elements. I enjoyed Caroline’s strong spirit, and how she just went after what she wanted, yet she has very realistic insecurities. Taran is all over the place, but I really grew to liked him as the story went on. Overall, it’s a fun jaunt with secrets, villains, and sexy, sexy times.

It’s Getting Scot in Here by Suzanne Enoch

Publisher: St. Martin’s Press

Release Date: February 26, 2019

Synopsis: Marry or lose their estate; that’s the devil’s bargain he and his brothers must follow. But wild Highlander Niall MacTaggert’s stubborn oldest brother wants nothing to do with marrying the sophisticated, pinky-out Lady Amelia-Rose his mother has chosen for him, even to save their land. Niall’s only goal is to soften up the London socialite, and show his brother the warm beauty behind the shiny, polished front. But what Niall doesn’t expect to find is the woman of his dreams…

Review: I completely fell in love with the leads in this book. Niall MacTaggert. Yes, another new book boyfriend. He’s little wild, a little messy, but caring and level-headed when you need him to be. Lady Amelia-Rose is this strong woman who just doesn’t fit into “proper” English society, and I love her that much more for it. Their character development was great, and getting to know them both was so much fun.

If you’ve read some of my reviews before, you may know I’m a sucker for families in romance series, and this is no exception. The family dynamics of the MacTaggert’s are pretty nutty, but I think it’s going to make for an amazing series. I cannot wait to find out about the other two brothers, and see the relationship they build with their mother and sister!

This is just a fun romp through messy relationships, bargains, English ladies, and sexy Scottish men. While you’ll definitely feel the emotions, you will also have quite a few good laughs along the way. I’d definitely recommend this one to my fellow romance readers.
