Where I Belong by J. Daniels

Release Date: February, 2017

SYNOPSIS: When Mia Corelli returns to Alabama for a summer of fun with her childhood best friend, Tessa, there’s only one thing keeping her on edge. One person that she’d do anything to avoid. Benjamin Kelly. World’s biggest dickhead. Mia hates him with a fury and has no desire to ever see him again. When she decides to start her summer off with a bang and finally give away her v-card, she unknowingly hands it over to the one guy that excelled at making her life miserable, learning a valuable lesson in the process. Always get the name of the guy you’re going home with. Ben can’t get the girl he spent one night with out of his head. When she leaves him the next morning, he thinks he’ll never see her again. Until he sees her lounging by the pool with his sister. Mia is determined to hate Ben, even though she can’t forget him. Ben is determined to prove he’s not the same guy he used to be. What happens when the one person you wish never existed becomes the one person you can’t imagine being without?

REVIEW: Parts of this book made me laugh so freakin’ hard and other parts made me clutch at my heart. Seriously, what whirlwind of emotions when the male lead used to torture the female lead as children, but now all he wants is to be with her. The way they meet again, without knowing each other, and then run into each other and realize that one-night stand the night before was actually with someone they knew. WOW. What I appreciated was how Mia didn’t just let Ben off the hook for what he did when he was younger. I love that she expressed herself and stood up for herself. That she reminded him who he had been to her, and how hard it was to reconcile that with who he is now. And luckily, Ben is here to fight for what he wants. I just felt like this was an emotional journey that was really satisfying in the end.

This story is included in the Top Shelf Romance Collection: Love Me Always

Until Talon by Aurora Rose Reynolds

Release Date: August 4, 2020

SYNOPSIS: When Mia Allenton’s sister calls, asking her for help after finding out her husband cheated, Mia packs up her life in Montana and moves to Tennessee to be there for her and her three girls. As Mia begins to settle in, a tornado comes through, bringing along with it Talon Mayson, a man determined to prove to her that good men do exist.

Talon knows he’s got his work cut out for him when it comes to earning Mia’s trust, but slowly her walls start to crumble, and they begin to build something beautiful. Unfortunately, someone from Talon’s past isn’t happy about him being back in Tennessee, and they’re willing to do anything to prevent him from ever being happy.

Is the Boom between Talon and Mia strong enough to weather the storm that’s coming?

REVIEW: This was my first book by Aurora Rose Reynolds and it was such a pleasant surprise! In Talon’s family their insta-love burns bright, but is also accompanied by lots of drama, and I AM HERE FOR IT. I love how he’s just all about Mia from the moment they meet! Plus, Mia is pretty lovable with everything she’s doing for her sister. This is hit the spot for the romantic suspense binge I’ve been on lately and I’m so glad I picked it up.

Since I hadn’t read previous books in this series, I went ahead and started back with Unly July. It was interesting to see the writer growth between the two stories, and I’m looking forward to seeing the progression over the whole series as I binge the backlist! Also, I’m going to need Aurora Rose Reynolds to give me the Mia’s sister’s story ASAP, because everything we get in this book about her romantic life made me totally invested in her getting her own HEA!

Surrender by Rachel Van Dyken

Release Date: June 23, 2020

SYNOPSIS: I’ve always been pretty bad about following the rules.
And my protégé only gave me one.
Stop hitting on his mom.
But I can’t stop thinking about her, and as a famous rockstar, I’ve always gotten what I wanted.
One week. I asked for one week of her time, where I would help Bronte get her groove back.
And then I’d walk out of her life the way I came storming in—through her front door.
The only problem is, now that I’ve had a taste, I’ve developed another addiction—her.
It doesn’t help that all of my bandmates are finally settling down and getting married, but I’ve always sworn never to surrender.
Until her.

REVIEW: When I first started this book, I had not read books 1-3 of the Seaside Pictures series. It can definitely be read as a standalone, but I sincerely enjoy getting the backstory, so I picked them up first. After meeting Drew in the previous book, Steal, I really was interested what his story would be like. There is just something about the antagonist getting their HEA that I really enjoy. The chemistry and attraction in this book burned hot and instant, but I really enjoyed the journey. These two were dealing with their own issues, but really found a connection in one another. It was like everything just fit where is was supposed to go. Rachel Van Dyken did a wonderful job of seamlessly weaving Drew and Bronte together in a way that tug at the heart strings. It was so endearing to read the scenes where Drew interacted with Amelia, Bronte’s daughter. I just felt like this book gave me the warm and fuzzies only an insta-love can give. I’m really happy I picked up the whole series!

Arrowood Brothers Series by Corinne Michaels

Overall Series: 4.5 STARS!

I am a sucker for a romance series of standalones, and even more so when the leads are related. So of course I’m completely invested in the Arrowood brothers. Not to mention Corinne Michaels does emotional romances so well. I can’t wait to read about all four brothers!

Book 1: Come Back for Me

Release Date: January 7, 2020

SYNOPSIS: One night, eight years ago, she gave me peace. No names. No promises. Just two broken people, desperate to quiet their pain and grief.

In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I’ll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I’ve fought to forget. And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen. Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. They say you can’t bury the past, and they’re right. Because when long-ago secrets are exposed, rocking us both to the core, I have no choice but to watch her walk away again. . .

REVIEW: I picked these books up because I love the way Corinne Michaels writes her romances. They always pack a punch to the emotions and take the characters on a journey of growth. This is an insta-love and the guy saves the girl type of story, which isn’t my go-to. Plus, there was so much going on in this story and I was a little overwhelmed by how things kept happening. That being said, I really do appreciate how Corinne Michaels portrayed abuse in families and the lasting impacts it can have on the people involved. Luckily, Ellie’s daughter Hadley was a heartwarming break from all the craziness. It also helped that Connor was unfailing in his devotion. With the twists and turns, I definitely was rooting for this couple and was excited to see how they would end up. Also, meeting the other Arrowood brothers, definitely made me realize I needed to get my hands on the rest of this series.

Book 2: Fight for Me

Release Date: May 19, 2020

SYNOPSIS: I fell in love with Sydney Hastings when I was ten years old. At sixteen, we whispered promises of forever. When I was twenty-two I broke them all. I left her and promised never to return.

After my father’s death, I’m forced to go home to Sugarloaf for six months. She’ll be everywhere, no longer just in my memories and regrets. When we’re together, it’s as though time never stopped. She’s still the one I want, but I don’t deserve her. Instead of apologizing, I take that beautiful, broken woman in my arms. But after that, it’s her turn to leave me.

Now I have to fight. For her. For us. For the life we both want …

REVIEW: Talk about emotional! I mean I thought I knew it would be, because we meet both Declan and Sydney is book 1, but that did not prepare me. I think there is something special about characters, such as the Arrowood brothers, that have been through trauma and in a result have a skewed world view. It’s just so human. I may have wanted to smack Declan upside the head many times in this book, but I was still rooting for him none the same. Sydney handles everything the best she can. I enjoyed her strength and admired her love for Declan. The hits kept coming in this one and I liked it even better than book 1. I’m excited to see what happens to the other two Arrowood brothers in books 3 and 4!

Southern Series by Natasha Madison

Overall Series: 4 STARS!

This series is full of quick reads, lots of suspense and drama, and all the damn feels. The characters are all tangled up in each other and endure a lot of difficult events. Something I appreciate about this series is how Natasha Madison made my feelings change about all the characters as they developed over all three books! I’m looking forward to the fourth book, because I’m sure it’s going to be chock full of angst and messiness that she writes so well.

Book 1: Southern Chance

Release Date: March 17, 2020

SYNOPSIS: Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.

Kallie – I fell in love with him when I was seven. I scraped my knee, and he helped carry me inside.
Our love story was the talk of the town until a woman told everyone she was pregnant with his baby. The only rational solution was to high tail it out of town and never come back. My best friend needed a place to hide, and you can’t get much more covert than my family farm, so I came back. For her. It was supposed to be temporary, and I wasn’t supposed to see him, but that’s what happens when you live in a small town where everyone knows each other.

Jacob – Being the sheriff in a small town was never my dream. My father died and my older brother took off, so I had to be the one to look after my mother. I stayed. I fulfilled my duties as a son and I protected my hometown. My life wasn’t perfect, but I was content. Until I locked eyes with a ghost from my past, Kallie. I thought it was my imagination, it couldn’t be. I loved her most of my life, but now I hated her. The town gossip mill was going into overdrive. I kept my head down and my mind off of the woman who shattered my heart when she ran away. She didn’t give me a chance to explain, it didn’t matter to her then. I didn’t matter.

A second chance is never promised, but now that mine is right under my nose, I’m not sure I can take it.

REVIEW: I sincerely hated the beginning of this book. I was mad at every single character for how they acted, which just made me need to read the whole damn book to know what happened. And I have to say, I’m glad I stuck it out! By the end of the book, I was smiling and opening up book 2! Let’s just say there are a lot of mistakes made, but at the end of the day some things are just meant to be. The side characters really added to this story and it’s so awesome to get their HEAs in books 2 and 3!

Book 2: Southern Comfort

Release Date: April 14, 2020

SYNOPSIS: Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.

Olivia – When you find out that your fiancé is arrested for swindling over ten million dollars from his clients, you do what any sane woman would do. You escape reality and go undercover, trading in your city-girl Louboutins for country-pumpkin cowboy boots. It wasn’t a forever change—it was temporary. I only had to stay here until things back home got straightened out, or so I thought.

Casey – I was riding horses before I was walking, or at least that was what they told me. I always knew I would take over the family farm. It’s in my blood. Country boy at heart, the minute I saw her dragging her luggage up the gravel driveway I knew she was out of my league.I shouldn’t have started anything with her, because I knew she was just passing through. I couldn’t stop it, I fell in love with her. Even though I knew, in the end, she would leave me.

REVIEW: This a damn romantic suspense with messy characters and lots of ups and downs. When I first saw glimpses of Olivia and Casey in the first book, I was really looking forward to their book. I feel like we got so much more depth to these characters than I was expecting, because they are so much more than what you see. This was a wild ride and it really added to the series overall!

Book 3: Southern Storm

Release Date: May 19, 2020

SYNOPSIS: Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.

Savannah – I’m the one who broke up the golden couple. The woman people still whisper about, point at, and give dirty looks to. Did I sleep with the prom king? No. Did I sleep with the town’s golden boy on vacation from college? Yes. Did I believe that he was going to marry me? Wholeheartedly. Did he? Not even close. He got engaged right in front of me and then his father threw two hundred dollars at me and told me to take the trash out. So, I raised my son in a town where people love him because they think that his father is the sheriff. It was going great, everything was working out till my lie got out.

Beau – I was getting ready to take over the mayoral office from my father, who was my hero. Until I heard the secret he hoped would stay buried forever. My brother has a son, not just any son but a son with the woman who was my best friend. The woman I secretly have loved from the moment she stood up to me and broke my nose in kindergarten. I need to protect her and in order to do that, we need to get married. Too bad her nightmare is my dream come true.

REVIEW: I had questionable feeling towards Savannah, but I really loved Beau throughout the previous books. That meant I had mixed feelings going into this book in general, but I was also beyond interested to see how Natasha Madison was going to handle the drama that I knew what coming. Luckily, she got right to it in the opening scenes! Let me just say, Beau doesn’t show who is really is at beginning, but he makes up for it right away. Beau is freakin’ swoony and I just loved how he stood up for Savannah. By the end of this book, I was rooting for them both and I loved seeing their journey together.

Book 4: Southern Sunrise

5 Stars!

Release Date: July 7, 2020

SYNOPSIS: Buried secrets never stay hidden in the South.

Emily – I fell in love with him when I was fourteen. Under the stars, he told me he loved me, and under the stars we promised to love each other always. But under the stars, he broke my heart by walking away. He left me without a second glance. I was just an afterthought.
Now he’s back, but this time, I’m not falling for his Southern charm. Maybe. It’s time I get my happily ever after, even if part of me wishes he was still mine.

Ethan – I found out on my twenty-first birthday that everything I thought I knew was a lie, and the man I had grown up thinking was my father wasn’t. The pain I felt blinded me, making it impossible to hear what anyone said.
I left them all behind, including her, my best friend and the woman I was going to marry. Five years later, I’m back, only to find the woman I still love has another man’s ring on her finger. She’s going to marry my best friend unless I stop her. And this time, I only have until sunrise to change her mind.

Meet Natasha Madison: When her nose isn’t buried in a book, or her fingers flying across a keyboard writing, she’s in the kitchen creating gourmet meals. You can find her, in four inch heels no less, in the car chauffeuring kids, or possibly with her husband scheduling his business trips. It’s a good thing her characters do what she says, because even her Labrador doesn’t listen to her…
